living in kbecistan
Humour, culture and survival notes filtered through one slightly unstable brain
What is this?
Living in Kbecistan is about navigating modern life in Barbados through humour, observation and the occasional questionable conclusion.
Consider this the official record. Maintained by a middle-aged, mostly retired, slightly twisted Bajan man.

The following was written after listening to a ten minute conversation between two of my workmates, so I cannot vouch for the accuracy of the information.
Barbados Five-O - The Centipede Incident
Barbados Five-O would be a whole thing. But I would stay for the Rupee theme.
Discovering Discovery
I’ve been reading and hearing the complaints about the newest Star Trek iteration, Discovery, primarily from diehard Trekkers. I hear you bros. If I was expecting classic Trek I would be very disappointed too.

True story. Yesterday I witnessed a chicken doing chicken things at the side of the road.
Happy Independence 2016
The very best concert I ever attended was Miami Sound Machine at the National Stadium, in 1988 I believe. I can’t remember anything about their performance, but I have vivid memories of the other acts on the bill that night.
Happy Independence 2015
1982 was the year I started to really take notice of Bajan calypso. I was already a fan of Sparrow, Kitchener and Shadow
Happy Independence 2014
Barbados used to be filled with passionate, knowledgeable cricket lovers. Sadly that group is no longer in the majority, but I count myself as one of them.
Happy Independence 2013
One of the radio stations used to have an Independence poll aimed at identifying the greatest Bajan song of all time.
Nope. Won’t be colonising this time period.
