Beefing with the Pope???

As I monitor what passes for social media discourse these days, I’ve concluded that I am merely an explorer from another time, unlearned in the ways of the natives.

In this month alone, I’ve observed a series of unusual behaviours, including:

• A well-known local educator arrested for allegedly publicly cussing someone online

• Students around the world starting fires in schools and homes by copying the so-called Chromebook Challenge on TikTok

• A sitting world leader beefing with a Pope on social media

The behaviour of these indigenous inhabitants is so bizarrely foreign that I will be making no attempt to colonise this time period.
