Barbados Five-O - The Centipede Incident

I was watching an episode of Hawaii Five-O where the team followed some clues that lead them to a cave in the middle of a rain forest. They found partially buried human remains and there was a quick close up of the skull showing a large centipede rapidly crawling out of it through an eye socket. Then the team went on to do their investigative thing and eventually solved the case

I guess the shot of the centipede was designed to emphasize a few things about the situation: they were in an exotic, tropical location; they were far away from civilization; and the remains had been there long enough that the creepy crawlies had made it their home.

But I couldn’t help but think that if this was Barbados Five-O, this episode would have become The Centipede Incident at that point. The rest of the show would have been spent with three officers jumping out of the way and yelling while the other one tries to kill the centipede with his shoe and then with rocks, probably destroying the skull in the process.

Then they would head back to the station and tell everyone about the giant centipede they encountered while following a lead on some case that has now been completely forgotten. All the officers and some prisoners would exchange their favourite centipede stories and then as the credits roll, we hear Rupee singing over a sample of the Hawaii Five-O theme song.

I would watch the hell out of that show!
